Synology Launches Surveillance365 Cloud VSaaS for Multi-Site Businesses
News | 27.07.2026
Managing surveillance across multiple sites has long been a bottleneck for retail chains, construction firms, and distributed enterprises. On-premises NVRs demand IT staff, upfront hardware, and complex networking, while pure cloud solutions often raise concerns about bandwidth costs, data sovereignty, and access control. Synology addresses this gap with Surveillance365, a Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS) platform that combines edge intelligence with centralized cloud management.
What was announced
On July 22, 2026, Synology launched Surveillance365, a VSaaS solution that lets organizations deploy enterprise-grade multi-site surveillance in minutes and scale without additional IT overhead. The Standard Plan is free to use with compatible Synology Cameras and centrally manages the camera fleet from a single web portal or mobile app. Each camera can be deployed in as little as two minutes, with no dedicated IT staff or on-premises server configuration required.
Ever since we introduced Surveillance Station in 2008, our vision has been to build a private, fully integrated surveillance ecosystem spanning cameras, NVRs, VMS, storage, backup, AI analytics, and cloud, all engineered by one vendor. Today, Surveillance365 completes that vision
Why this matters
For CIOs, CISOs, and procurement leaders, Surveillance365 removes the traditional trade-off between control and scale. All Synology Cameras used with the platform are NDAA and TAA compliant, meeting procurement requirements for government agencies and security-conscious organizations. Access is protected by multi-factor authentication and a C2 Encryption Key held exclusively by the account holder, ensuring that no external party can view footage without authorization.
The Business Plan adds granular permission profiles, site-level camera management, and a comprehensive audit log, giving distributed security teams the governance tools required for compliance and internal accountability.
Technical details
- Edge recording: footage is stored locally on an onboard microSD card, reducing cloud dependency.
- On-camera AI analytics: People, Vehicle, Intrusion, and Loitering Detection processed at the edge for immediate alerts.
- Bandwidth optimization: peer-to-peer local connections for live viewing plus Low Bandwidth Mode cutting usage by up to 50%.
- Security: multi-factor authentication and account-held C2 Encryption Key.
- Compliance: NDAA and TAA compliant hardware.
- Cloud backup: optional C2 OneStorage with event-based or continuous recording and retention from 45 to 3,650 days.
- Legacy protection: extends to Surveillance Station recordings on existing Synology NAS.
