Synology RS11626xs+: Petabyte-Scale Enterprise Storage
News | 07.09.2026
Organizations managing rapidly growing, mission-critical data face a persistent challenge: how to combine massive capacity, sustained performance, and enterprise-grade reliability in one platform that will still fit the workload three or five years from now. Synology addresses this challenge with the RS11626xs+, a 3U 20-bay storage system engineered for petabyte-scale environments where downtime is not an option.
What was announced
On September 3, 2026, Synology launched the RS11626xs+, a high-performance rackmount NAS designed for organizations that need to scale storage non-disruptively into the multi-petabyte range while sustaining demanding enterprise workloads.
The system delivers up to 895,000 / 234,000 4K random read/write IOPS and 10,500 / 8,200 MB/s sequential throughput, supports scaling to 116 drive bays and over 2.6 PB of raw capacity with eight RX1222sas expansion units, and runs Synology DiskStation Manager on dedicated M.2 NVMe drives in RAID 1.
The RS11626xs+ is built specifically to address long-term needs, delivering massive capacity expansion, versatile performance upgrades, and the enterprise-grade reliability organizations need to grow with confidence
Why this matters
For CIOs, CISOs, IT directors, and procurement leaders, storage decisions are strategic. The RS11626xs+ separates OS activity from the data path, offers redundant power supplies and SAS multipath expansion, and supports Synology High Availability for minute-level cluster recovery. This combination reduces operational risk, extends refresh cycles, and consolidates backup, virtualization, and archiving workloads on a single certified platform.
With Storage Efficiency features in DSM 7.4 and Synology Tiering, organizations can store up to 3.5x more data on the same footprint, lowering total cost of ownership without sacrificing performance predictability.
