Synology RackStation RS826(RP)+: Compact Storage for Edge and Remote Sites

News | 17.08.2026

Branch offices, remote sites, and edge locations often struggle with the same problem: how to deliver enterprise-grade data storage, backup, and collaboration in a compact footprint without sacrificing reliability. Synology addresses this challenge with the new RackStation RS826RP+ and RS826+, 1U 4-bay rackmount storage systems purpose-built for small and medium-sized businesses managing distributed IT environments.

What was announced

Synology has announced the availability of the RS826RP+ and RS826+, compact 1U 4-bay rackmount storage systems designed for edge and remote deployments. Powered by a 4-core AMD Ryzen V1500B processor, the units deliver sequential read/write speeds of over 2,000/1,300 MB/s, helping teams accelerate file sharing, synchronization, and backup across branch offices and remote sites.

The systems can scale from 4 to up to 8 drive bays with the new Synology RX426 expansion unit. Four built-in 1GbE ports and a PCIe 3.0 expansion slot enable flexible networking with support for 10/25GbE connectivity, while dual Synology M.2 SSDs via an adapter card can enable SSD caching to reduce latency. The RS826RP+ additionally includes dual power supplies for redundancy.

RS826RP+ and RS826+ deliver dependable performance and flexible scalability in a compact form factor, making them ideal for branch offices and distributed deployments. With support for network upgrades, SSD caching, and storage expansion up to 8 bays, these systems give businesses the flexibility to speed up file access and streamline collaboration, helping teams work more productively

Why this matters

For CIOs, CISOs, IT directors, and procurement leaders overseeing multi-site operations, the RS826(RP)+ series addresses a critical operational gap: consistent, manageable storage for edge locations without the complexity or cost of full data-center hardware. Hot-swappable drive trays and online volume management allow servicing without interrupting operations, while DSM's integrated toolset covers file collaboration, virtualization, and hybrid cloud scenarios out of the box.
