Google Vids Update: Gemini Omni Integration, Personal Avatars, and Advanced AI Video Features
News | 20.07.2026
While the market is flooded with standalone AI video tools, Google Vids remains one of the most underrated applications within the Google Workspace ecosystem. Its true power lies in native integration: no external subscriptions, no complex file transfers, and no data security risks. Vids works directly with your Docs, Slides, and Drive files right in the browser.
In June and July 2026, Google introduced significant functional updates to the service.
The integration of the Gemini Omni multimodal model, Veo 3.1 generation capabilities, and the Gemini Audio multimodal audio model transforms Vids into a full-featured intelligent video studio for corporate workflows.
Key Feature Updates (June–July 2026 Releases)
1. Conversational Video Editing with Gemini Omni (Announced July 2026)
With Gemini Omni integration, Google Vids introduces Video-to-Video Editing. Users can upload any clip (AI-generated or shot on a phone) and adjust it using natural language text prompts—change visual styles, remove background noise, swap environments, or fix lighting. The system also supports flexible aspect ratio switching between landscape (16:9) and vertical formats.
2. Personal Avatars — Create Your Digital Twin (Announced July 2026)
Gemini Omni enables users to create personalized AI avatars of real company speakers or executives. After a brief one-time video and audio recording, users can generate video updates featuring their digital twin, controlling its movement, speech, and gestures via text scripts. Access permissions are strictly managed and bound to individual user accounts to prevent unauthorized use.
3. Precise Vocal Direction with Audio Steering Tags (Announced July 2026)
To make AI voiceovers sound natural, Google introduced Audio Steering Tags. Script writers can insert bracketed tags—such as [excitedly], [slowly], [calm], or sound cues—to direct pacing and emotion. For longer scripts, Gemini can automatically analyze text context and insert appropriate steering tags with a single click.
4. 24 Languages Supported & Expanded Avatar Library (June 2026 Release)
The preset presenter library expanded from 23 to 53 models (including 3D and graphic styles). Powered by the Gemini 3.1 Flash speech synthesis model, voiceovers and avatars added 16 new languages—now supporting Polish, Ukrainian, Turkish, Romanian, Dutch, Arabic, Hindi, and more.
5. Longer Video Sequences with Veo 3.1 (June 2026 Release)
Integrating the upgraded Veo 3.1 generative model allows users to generate longer video clips per prompt and create multiple scene variations simultaneously for rapid iteration.
Availability: The updated Google Vids features are available to Google Workspace customers on Business (Starter, Standard, Plus), Enterprise (Starter, Standard, Plus).
(Note: Personal avatar creation is currently available for English interface settings in select regions).
