How Gartner evaluates vendors

The Magic Quadrant is built on two axes. Ability to Execute covers product maturity, overall vendor viability, sales execution and pricing, market responsiveness, marketing, customer experience and operations. Completeness of Vision covers market understanding, marketing and sales strategy, product strategy, business model, vertical and geographic strategy, and innovation. Based on these criteria, each vendor is placed in one of four quadrants: Leaders, Challengers, Visionaries or Niche Players.
