Fill with Gemini in Google Sheets Globally Expands to 11 New Languages

News | 07.07.2026

In July 2026, Google announced the language expansion of its intelligent data preparation feature, "Fill with Gemini" in Google Sheets. This AI-backed functionality simplifies manual data entry, sentiment analysis, and text categorisation by generating content directly within chosen cells, removing the requirement for complex formulas.

Initially launched with support for eight languages, the update introduces 11 additional languages to the platform.

The full list of newly supported languages includes:

  • Mandarin, Dutch, Malay, Hebrew, Polish, Turkish, Czech, Indonesian, Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian.

To invoke the tool, users can simply highlight blank cells or drag a selection to bring up the automated prompt menu.

Google Sheets interface with the Fill with Gemini tool open, demonstrating AI-powered automatic data entry and cell categorisation.

Other recent Google Sheets updates (Q2 2026):

  • One-click formula troubleshooting: Released in late June, Gemini can now diagnose formula errors instantly. It analyses surrounding data structures, providing an easy-to-understand explanation and a one-click fix.
  • 3D Bar Chart Import Support: Sheets now fully handles the import of 3D bar charts from external files, including Microsoft Excel, preserving their original volumetric appearance rather than converting them to 2D models.

Availability:

The extended language capabilities are available by default to Google Workspace customers on the following editions:

  • Business Standard and Business Plus
  • Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus

Usage Limits Note: Starting 15 July 2026, users with AI Expanded Access licences will be granted higher usage thresholds for Fill with Gemini and associated AI functions within Sheets.
