Google Docs Expands Gemini Capabilities to 11 New Languages

In June 2026, Google announced a significant language expansion for its Gemini generative AI tools within Google Docs. Features built to streamline content creation—helping users move seamlessly from a blank page to a finished draft—are now available in 11 additional languages.

The newly supported languages are:

• Czech, Danish, Dutch, Hebrew, Indonesian, Malay, Mandarin, Norwegian, Polish, Swedish, and Turkish.

These additions complement the existing line-up, which includes English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

This update makes it substantially easier for cross-border teams to draft and refine documentation using Gemini's key features:

• Context-Aware Content Drafting: Gemini pulls relevant context directly from Drive files, Gmail threads, Chat messages, and Google Search to draft highly relevant, accurate documents from scratch.
• In-line Editing with 'Help me write': Through a dedicated action bar or side panel, users can ask Gemini to rewrite, shorten, or rephrase entire documents or specific highlighted passages. All AI-generated suggestions remain private until explicitly inserted into the doc.
• Style and Formatting Alignment ('Match doc format'): Gemini can scan your current document and automatically match its formatting—applying identical fonts, colour palettes, heading structures, and table layouts to newly generated text.

Availability: The expanded language feature is enabled by default (provided Gemini for Workspace is active in Drive and smart features are turned on) for the following Google Workspace editions:

• Business Standard and Business Plus
• Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus
