Amazon Web Services Recognized as a Leader in Sovereign Cloud Infrastructure Services (EU)

For the third year in a row, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been recognized as a Leader in the Information Services Group (ISG) Provider Lens™ Quadrant Report for Sovereign Cloud Infrastructure Services (EU). The report was published on January 9, 2026, and evaluates the ability of cloud providers to address the growing digital sovereignty requirements of organizations operating in the European Union.

ISG is a globally recognized technology research and advisory firm, serving more than 900 enterprise clients worldwide. In this year’s study, ISG assessed 19 sovereign cloud infrastructure providers operating in a multi-public-cloud environment, focusing on how effectively they help EU enterprises meet regulatory, security, and resilience challenges.

In the ISG framework, Leaders are defined as providers that demonstrate both innovative strength and competitive stability—a distinction AWS has now achieved for three consecutive years.

Strong Performance Across Competitive Strength and Portfolio Attractiveness

In the 2025 report, AWS was positioned ahead of other leading cloud providers on both key evaluation dimensions:

  • Competitive Strength, assessed based on market awareness, core competencies, and go-to-market strategy
  • Portfolio Attractiveness, assessed based on scope and quality of services, long-term strategy and vision, and alignment with local EU requirements

AWS achieved the highest score for portfolio attractiveness, reflecting the breadth and maturity of its sovereign cloud capabilities.

According to ISG, “AWS’s infrastructure provides robust resilience and availability, supported by a sovereign-by-design architecture that ensures data residency and regional independence.”

Sovereign-by-Design Cloud for the European Union

AWS’s recognition in the ISG report underscores its long-term commitment to digital sovereignty in Europe. The AWS Cloud is designed to give customers more control and more choice, without compromising access to the full breadth of AWS services and innovation. Key elements of AWS’s sovereign cloud approach include:

  • Strong regional isolation and independence
  • Customer control over data residency
  • Advanced encryption and granular access controls
  • High availability and operational resilience
  • Continuous investment in EU-based engineering and infrastructure

Through its Digital Sovereignty Pledge, AWS continues to expand its roadmap of capabilities that support regulatory compliance, national sovereignty requirements, and highly regulated workloads across the EU.

Supporting European Customers and Partners

AWS’s position as a Leader for the third consecutive year reflects more than a decade of experience operating multiple independent cloud environments for sensitive and mission-critical workloads. This experience, combined with deep European engineering roots, enables AWS to support public sector organizations, regulated industries, and enterprises with strict sovereignty requirements.

As an official AWS Partner, Softprom helps organizations across Europe design, implement, and optimize AWS-based architectures that align with data residency, compliance, and resilience requirements—while still benefiting from the scalability and innovation of the AWS Cloud.
