Akamai Named Strategic Security Partner for WWT ARMOR AI Framework
News | 13.07.2026
Enterprises racing to adopt AI increasingly face a hidden cost known as the security tax, where traditional security agents compete with AI workloads for GPU and CPU resources. Akamai has been selected as a strategic security partner for World Wide Technology (WWT) ARMOR, a vendor-agnostic AI security framework designed to close the gap between AI innovation and operational resilience. The partnership positions Akamai as a foundational security layer for the AI factories being built by WWT and accelerated by NVIDIA.
What was announced
Akamai announced its selection as a strategic partner for WWT AI Readiness Model for Operational Resilience (ARMOR), the industry first holistic, vendor-agnostic AI security framework. ARMOR spans six critical domains: governance, risk and compliance (GRC), model security, secure AI operations, infrastructure security, data protection, and secure development lifecycle (SDLC).
Through this collaboration, Akamai integrates its software intelligence directly with NVIDIA BlueField DPUs, enabling isolated enforcement for large-scale AI clusters without sacrificing training and inference performance.
Before ARMOR, organizations were often forced to piece together fragmented security strategies. By aligning our portfolio with this framework, we are providing a proactive methodology to isolate large-scale AI clusters and prevent the lateral movement of threats without sacrificing the performance that AI training and inference demand
Why this matters
For CIOs, CISOs and IT directors, ARMOR provides a structured blueprint that moves AI security beyond baseline compliance toward measurable cyber resilience. Procurement leaders gain a vendor-agnostic reference model backed by WWT Advanced Technology Center (ATC), enabling repeatable validation of AI security architectures before scaled deployment.
No single vendor can secure the AI frontier alone. Through our close partnership with Akamai, we are turning the hype of secure enterprise AI into a tangible, scalable reality for customers
Technical details
- Eliminating the security tax: Akamai Guardicore Segmentation is offloaded to NVIDIA BlueField DPUs, creating an isolated enforcement layer that survives host OS compromises.
- Ransomware containment: average acceleration of 21.4%, reaching 32.6% for large enterprises.
- Agentic AI and data lake protection: Akamai API Security monitors the connective tissue of AI, preventing unauthorized access to sensitive data lakes feeding LLMs.
- End-to-end defense: Prolexic DDoS mitigation delivers multilayered protection against volumetric attacks targeting mission-critical AI architectures.
- Framework scope: six domains — GRC, model security, secure AI operations, infrastructure security, data protection, and SDLC.
